Board of Directors

There is no formal process for recruiting and nominating prospective board members. Board members are encouraged, but not required, to make a financial contributions to FOP. In recent years, the collective contributions of board members have exceeded $3,000 each year.

The FOP bylaws state that board members serve two-year terms and may serve consecutive terms. Currently, two of the six members are founding members and have served on the board since its inception in 2003. An individual who desires to join the board and who is accepted (by a vote of the existing board) may continue serving consecutive terms until they choose to step down.

Each member of the board contributes their time on a volunteer basis, which varies between two to 20 hours per month. The number of volunteer hours varies per month and by board member, depending on their individual roles and availability. Board members also volunteer 5-8 hours during smaller fundraisers, typcially held a few times a year, and 30-40 hours for the major fundraiser. Volunteer hours are spread out over several weeks. Contributing so many hours to FOP is often challenging for board members who also work full-time jobs, however their dedication to furthering the mission of FOP contributes to the ongoing success of FOP and to the City’s ongoing mission to serve a special population through Camp Paha.

The Friends of Paha Board of Directors meet on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm. The meeting location varies from month to month. If you would like further details, please contact us.
